Our Brightmoor hub is hosting the BD Summer Enrichment camp from July 11 to August 19! The Summer Enrichment Camp is a 4-day, 6-week summer camp program that aims to provide enrichment to the kids in the neighborhood over the summer months. Each segment of the program has different focuses but each centers around literacy, creativity, and the importance of healthy living. For this program, we are expecting participation from about 25 children aged 5-8, and high school-aged interns to assist in running each interactive session. The program runs Monday to Thursday from 9 am to 3 pm.
We are asking for an additional adult volunteer to assist our site staff with child care and managing our participants during transitions. Lunch will be provided for each day you volunteer at our Brightmoor hub located at 15509 Heyden St Detroit, MI 48223.
Volunteer tasks would include:
- taking children for bathroom breaks
- assisting children with activities as needed
- any as-needed assistance during the day
Brilliant Detroit In-Person Volunteer Guidelines
All in-person volunteers must be fully vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus. Please either provide us with a proof of vaccination before coming to volunteer or when you arrive at the event. We recommend that you wear a mask when volunteering, especially when indoors, as some community members are not yet vaccinated. We will have masks available if you would like one.
If you are experiencing a fever, any symptoms of COVID-19, or test positive for COVID-19 anytime between signing up to volunteer and the volunteer event itself, please contact us. We will ask you to fill out a short form confirming that you have not experienced any symptoms or tested positive for COVID-19 when you arrive to volunteer.
Please wash your hands after touching your face and before and after handling food or program materials. Please avoid any unnecessary contact with any individuals (participants, staff, other volunteers). Some volunteer events may include food. At this time our food policy is as follows; shared meals will be limited. Food can be prepared and taken home to eat, but consuming meals together is prohibited.
