Brilliant Pontiac

Pioneered in Detroit, but expanded to Pontiac in 2025, Brilliant Cities is a neighborhood-powered model ensuring children 0-8 are school-ready, healthy, and supported. We do this by transforming houses into community hubs where children and families have what they need to thrive.

We currently operate 19 hubs across 24 neighborhoods, where families with young children come for programs in education, health, and family support and to connect and build community with one another.

There are many ways to get involved—whether it’s participating in a community event like a holiday celebration, joining an organization or beautification project, supporting high-dosage literacy tutoring, or helping with program facilitation. We’d love to welcome you to our Brilliant community!

Here is a bit more about how we work:

• We are invited into neighborhoods by local community organizations and leaders and confirm neighborhood interest through listening sessions with residents.
• We buy and renovate a vacant house into a hub designed with the community. 
• We hire from the community and we launch the hub to act as a gathering place for fellowship and programming.
• We offer coordinated, high-quality programs continuously across early childhood for children, caregivers, and children and caregivers together.
• We improve with the insight and evidence in each community creating the opportunity for everyone to thrive.

Along the way, we have seen significant growth across our families’ education, health, and stability, including an average increase in three reading levels. We have now launched Brilliant Cities as an umbrella organization that will bring our model to cities across the United States and around the world.
